Donna, the proprietor, is friendly and accommodating, and the place was clean and comfortable. Breakfast coupons for Screamers were a nice touch. It’s a great little breakfast eatery and bakery, and they let us apply the coupons as discounts instead of limiting them to the listed coupon items. A great pairing between the businesses.

The room was spotless and in great shape. I also appreciated the many TV channels, since I could watch a couple of hockey games. The electronic punch code for each room meant I didn’t have to keep track of a key, and the wifi was strong. I was working in the area when the highway weather on the way back to Calgary changed, and I was too tired to drive through it at night. I checked the prices and reviews online, then called the front desk for a room that same night. The owner was easygoing and didn’t take advantage of my last-minute situation. In fact, he gave me a discount since I was arriving late and wouldn’t use the room much. They also gave me a voucher for free breakfast at Screamers Ice-cream and Café around the corner, which I appreciated before heading back to Calgary. I’ll plan to stay here next time I’m in town.

A big thank you to Julie and Tony for looking after my senior parents when their car broke down just outside Radium yesterday. They helped with the luggage and recommended a trustworthy mechanic, making a tough situation manageable. My mom couldn’t stop praising them and telling me how welcome they felt. They especially loved the morning waffles and had to send me a photo. Your kindness and hospitality meant so much.

On our way to Fernie to see friends on the mountain, we spent two nights at Celadon Lodge. It’s undoubtedly the best 3 star motel we’ve stayed in, and the high ratings are well earned. The listed amenities are all accurate, if anything a little modest. The staff and service were exceptional, and the waffles were to die for. Such a pleasant visit.
