We stayed overnight on the way to Algonquin park, and it was perfectly pleasant. After reading the reviews here, I expected worse and felt people had been a little harsh. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom was nice, and the AC worked like a dream. There were a couple of minor problems: the mini fridge beeped loudly and leaked a bit, so we unplugged it since we didn't need it. The walls are thin enough that you can hear a neighbor showering or opening and closing doors. If you want an inexpensive place, this is a good option. Just don't expect bells and whistles, you get what you pay for.

We booked two rooms, but the bathroom doors wouldn't lock and the room safety locks were broken. There was hair in the tubs in both bathrooms, broken tiles, and paintbrush marks on the doors. The curtains were damaged and falling down. There was no snow removal at the hotel entrance, and the sliding doors to the parking lot never closed properly, leaving a gap. Our rooms weren't serviced while we were out. The receptionist greeted us wearing sandals.

We had to stay because we were in town for the marathon and couldn't find anywhere else. The online pictures don't show what this place is really like. It was filthy, so we went to Walmart and bought our own bedding to make it tolerable. Only one light worked, the room reeked of cigarettes, and the door wouldn't shut properly, so we had to wedge a chair against it. The couch stain could have been a body for all I know.

We noticed all this within the first five minutes, even though they said the room had just been cleaned: the sink faucet was broken, the smoke alarm didn't work, the AC vents were stuffed with old food, and the third floor and room smelled strongly of cigarettes. The beds felt filthy, and cobwebs and stains covered the walls and ceiling. The TV didn't work either. It was the filthiest place I've ever had to sleep. There was no overnight front desk service, and the side doors to the building were left unlocked. The owner wouldn't listen to our complaints or try to fix the experience we'd been looking forward to sharing with friends for months. We started searching for another room as soon as we arrived, but had no luck. I also woke with a strange bite or mark on my hip that didn't look like any bug bite I'd seen before. Don't stay here if you care about hygiene. It's disgusting.
