Auberge Au Poste De Traite

The patio has a great view, and the prices are about what you’d expect at a casual tourist stop. The food tasted good once it arrived, although maybe I was just hungry enough to think so. Waiting more than an hour for a sandwich, salad, and kids’ burger was a lot. The mustard on one plate had a crust on top, as if the food had been sitting under a lamp. I might not have minded the delay as much if the server had acknowledged it, apologized, or kept us updated. Great setting, disappointing service.

We sat outside in the evening and got a great view of the sunset. Such a cute place, and the food was amazing. The menu has some unusual items, but our waiter helped us understand everything we weren’t familiar with.

The staff really made our visit a delight. They seemed a little short-staffed because of post-COVID issues, but everyone was friendly and efficient. We stayed one night in two river-view rooms, which were clean and cozy, and we all enjoyed it. It was a bit chilly at night, and we couldn’t find the heater control, but the extra blankets did the job. We also had cocktails and dinner at the inn’s restaurant, and both were great. Breakfast was included and very nice. Everything exceeded what we expected from an inn, and we’ll definitely return.

The continental breakfast was far more than we expected: fresh croissants, island strawberries, homemade jams, eggs and bacon, toast, and as much coffee as you wanted. I’ve never seen such a complete breakfast of this kind. The owners were extremely helpful and friendly, and the inn itself is quaint and charming. Our room had plenty of space for two adults and two kids, with bunk beds the kids loved. The terrace at the back has a beautiful view at sunrise or sunset. I’d gladly go back and highly recommend it.
