The Iona Heights Inn

The sunrise views were amazing, and the location works well as a central base for the surrounding areas. It’s not close to essentials like gas, restaurants, or groceries, though there’s a small convenience store, liquor store, and fantastic restaurant right onsite. For the price, the hotel, location, and staff were great. The rooms were clean but could use some repairs and updating. Shout out to Kim, Zoey, and Riley. You’re a credit to the team, friendly and helpful!

The view from our second-floor balcony was breathtaking, and the staff were awesome. We also ate at the pub onsite, which had great food for breakfast, lunch, and supper. The place was clean and charming, though a little dated. It felt like stumbling onto a quaint roadside motel back before Google Maps travel. A great spot off the beaten trail, and I’d stay here again for sure!

There’s plenty to do onsite, from lawn games out front to a basketball court and pickleball at the back, plus board games in the pub. We stayed here briefly before driving the Cabot Trail around Cape Breton and had a great time. They’re dog-friendly and can provide towels and blankets for the pups, which was a nice surprise. The simple rooms were clean and adequate, and we were happy to have a mini fridge. We ate at the pub because it was convenient and had such good reviews. The fish and chips lived up to them, and the service was excellent. We left early, so didn’t get to try breakfast. Check-in was easy even though we arrived early, and we were greeted warmly. Highly recommend for anyone travelling with kids or pets!

A beautiful view from the balcony, and the beds were comfortable. The room was clean, with a deep bathtub, good water pressure, and nice decor throughout. Grab a “Jill’s” treat, and make sure to visit the attached pub while you’re there.
