Hôtel Motel Les Voitures d'Eau

My room was warm, cozy, and comfortable. It's a bit dated, but charming and perfectly fine. I visited in the off-season after booking online months ahead. When I arrived, nobody was at reception, but there was a note with a number to call. I hadn't checked in with the motel or shared my ETA, so that was understandable for a small, mostly seasonal, locally run place rather than a city chain. There was a language barrier on the phone, but one of the inn-keepers came out in the snow within five minutes to check me in. He gave me directions and information about the island, including a great dinner recommendation, then waited while I looked over the room to make sure it was okay. At a remote or seasonal place, a little preparation and patience can go a long way. I'd happily stay again and recommend it to guests visiting L'Isle-aux-Courdes.

Our island vacations are shaped by the great service we get at the Voitures d'Eau hotel/motel. My family and I have stayed there twice, and both visits were easy and fabulous. Wherever we go around the island for vacation activities, locals also recognize the quality of care at the Voiture d'Eau. Summer's not over yet, and we're planning to return.

The place was beautiful, quiet, and very clean, with super friendly, helpful staff. I stayed one night and thought the price was just right. I'd definitely come back for more than two nights and recommend it anytime.

This is one of the sweetest spots on the island, and everyone is so friendly. There's quiet, plenty of soft hot water, and an awesome waterfront fire pit where they let you build a fire. They serve breakfast and dinner, and you might even get a hug from the owner. WiFi is available, but really, who cares when you're on an island?
