Athabasca Hotel

I've stayed here a few times and plan to come back next week. It's an older-style hotel and doesn't try to hide that, which is part of the experience. It's well kept and very clean. There are no elevators or AC; some rooms share a washroom, and most don't have fridges. The internet is a bit slow, and they give one code per device. If several people are staying in a room, you may need to ask for extra codes, though I'm not sure whether they'll provide them.

The shared washrooms were surprisingly clean and well maintained throughout my stay. My room at The Athabasca Hotel was on the small side, but cozy and comfortable, and the room itself was clean and well kept. It's a great affordable option in Jasper for anyone looking for a convenient, clean place while exploring the beautiful surroundings. I had a great experience and would recommend it.

We stayed here twice, both times in the cheapest room, which had a shared bathroom and toilet. It's good value for the price. The rooms were very clean and came with toiletries, a TV, hair dryer, and towels. There's a restaurant, slot machines, and a billiards table, plus lots of free parking behind the hotel. The downside is poor sound insulation; we could hear every little noise around us. I'd ask for a room away from the public toilet.

The staff handled this terribly and made the stay feel unwelcoming and disrespectful. They gave us the wrong room at check-in, then came back to ask us to leave because they'd made a mistake with the key. Guests shouldn't have to deal with a problem caused entirely by the hotel's own error. Mistakes happen, but there was no accountability, offer of compensation, or proper effort to accommodate us afterward. We paid for a service and were put in an uncomfortable situation through no fault of our own. They made no attempt to set things right and ruined our stay. I won't be coming back.
