Calla's Palace

The bed was lovely, but the breakfast part was left for me to prepare, with the food set upstairs. Calla's has the bed part of a bed and breakfast down, though the breakfast felt like the part being shirked. You couldn’t find a nicer little town or proprietor, but naturally there are some quirks.

We had a great two days in Jasper here. It’s a unique, quaint place, pet friendly, and a really good value. The host went out of her way to leave a bottle of Champaign for our anniversary, and was so helpful. Very affordable, with a great host and location.

The breakfast was basic: tea, hot chocolate, hot or cold cereal, toast and jam, plus an apple, orange, or banana. We were given glasses, though I wasn’t sure what for. We had to wait until late afternoon for more tea bags and clean cups, and ended up using a cup to get kettle water from the bathroom. Only one bathroom serves the whole house, and we felt as if we were using the owners bedroom. The TV didn’t work. The room was a little cool, and the closet had clothes that weren’t ours. There was a lot needing TLC: the bedside light had to be propped against the wall, the toilet seat was loose, the bath tap dripped, and the shower was stiff to operate. We could use the kettle or toaster, but not both at once. I’m not sure why it’s called " CALLAS PALACE ".

The owner and her two dogs were really friendly, and the place felt cozy and welcoming. It’s in a great spot, just a five minute walk to the middle of town. We had a great experience!
