Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge

We always visit JPL just before Christmas, and look forward to our yearly stay. This time brought plenty of surprises. We were upgraded to one of the newly renovated suites, and it was the nicest room we’ve ever stayed in. I loved the old rustic cabins, but the update won us over: modern touches still pair beautifully with the historic, rustic charm. The den had a cozy woodstove, and there was a separate living room with a comfy sectional and two bathrooms. We also received an anniversary gift. The renovations to the main lodge and rooms didn’t disrupt our visit. Stanley’s had been turned into a full-service restaurant, lounge and check-in area, with lovely holiday decor. It was fun to explore a part of the hotel we don’t usually see. Service was outstanding throughout, from the restaurant and spa to the shuttle drivers. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. JPL will always be special to us, and we can’t wait to return.

We enjoyed skating on the lake and swimming in the heated outdoor pool during our wonderful two-night stay in February 2026. The staff were excellent and the suite very comfortable. The trees did largely block the advertised “lakefront view,” though. The food was very good, and don’t miss the breakfast poutine.

We spent a perfect winter day wandering the grounds, enjoying the warm outdoor pool and skating on the lake. The property is beautiful, with majestic mountains all around. You can see the damage from last year’s fire, but the grounds and lake were still lovely to enjoy. Jasper Park Lodge was a great experience despite the renovations and upgrades. The staff were fantastic, the food and drinks top notch, and the room so relaxing.

The cabin I was given, 118, overlooked the frozen lake and was a perfect place to watch the stars and Aurora Borealis. I’d been upgraded at check-in, and the room was clean, welcoming and thoughtfully set up. The bed was extremely comfortable, the reading area looked out over the lake, and electric blinds and rolling doors gave the sleeping area privacy. Coming back to find the bed turned down and slippers ready was a lovely surprise. I stayed a couple of nights at Jasper Park Lodge for the first time this week, and it was a really great experience. There was a real fire at reception, heavenly in winter, and everyone at the desks greeted me with a warm smile. I enjoyed the spa pool and hot tub, admired the gallery art and had a phenomenal meal at Stanley's kitchen and bar: slow-roasted chicken with porcini mushroom puree and smoked mashed potatoes. I paired it with the Chillin' Moose, a smoky scotch cocktail, and I’m still thinking about that meal. Service was fantastic. There’s lots to do nearby, including golf, hiking, biking and climbing in warmer months. In winter there’s a close ski hill, walking trails, snowshoeing, lake skating, and cross-country skiing and touring. You can eat in town or enjoy the lodge food.
