Sandman Signature Kamloops Hotel

I’m honestly shocked by how dirty it was. I called the front desk, and housekeeping came, but they only cleaned the toilet. When I pointed out the bathtub and floor, it seemed like this level of cleanliness was considered fine. The carpet turned the bottoms of my socks yellow after about 20 minutes. In the bathroom, the floor was so filthy that wiping a small area with toilet paper made it turn grey. There were visible urine and feces stains in the toilet, and marks on the tub that looked like blood. They call this a “Signature 4-star hotel” and charge around $200 a night, yet it was dirtier than a campground. Disgusting. 🤮

We came back from dinner and found there was no parking, so we had to pay across the street. Apparently, during events anyone can park in the hotel lot, as long as they pay. The room was a mess when we arrived. The couch was left undone, with massive brown stains all over one cushion. There were no towels and no toilet paper, so we had to borrow some from another room. So weird. At 8:45 pm on a time change night, with a 6 am hockey game ahead of us, ten kids were playing mini hockey in the hallway outside our door. I haven’t complained and don’t have it in me to, but I also feel like I shouldn’t have to. The hot tub was closed too, which was a letdown. Awful customer service. Book at your own risk. I visited my sister at another hotel with her team, and it was lovely.

The view over Riverside park is beautiful, and the room was perfect. The location is great too, just a short walk to Victoria street, with two restaurants right on site. Ximena was so friendly and accommodating when she checked us in. She made sure we had everything we needed. I’d give her 10/10, and we’d absolutely recommend this hotel.

The only things that weren’t quite right were the facilities during my two-night stay. The hot tub was out of service the whole time, and the pool stopped working on my second night. They offered complimentary passes to the nearby Y, so it wasn’t a big deal. I also wish the room window had a sheer curtain for privacy and natural light, since the blackout blind worked very well. Everything else was perfect for my trip to Kamloops: great location for what I needed, excellent service, and a clean, comfortable room. The fitness center was spacious and well equipped. Thanks to the wonderful staff, especially Sukaran, for the excellent service. I’ll definitely choose Sandman next time I’m in Kamloops.
