Best Western Plus Kelowna Hotel & Suites

The Tower room on the 3rd floor smelled of meat and frying oil, a bit like a butcher shop. The 97 Street Pub is right across the lobby, and I suspect its exhaust vent is close enough to the hotel's air intake for the smell to get into this floor, maybe other floors too. It might be more noticeable if you don't eat meat or strong-smelling foods like onions and garlic, especially if you're vegan. Otherwise, the room was very clean, with ample towels and very comfortable bedding. Please consider adding flat pillows. It was fairly quiet despite being near the main roads, and the check-in staff were beyond reproach.

The front desk staff were friendly, and the place was a little above average for us. It’s easy to walk to plenty of shops. The room was what we expected, and the pool and hot tub were fine. Breakfast was a small buffet but enough. The letdown was the restaurant: it was advertised as family friendly, but they wouldn’t seat us because we had two teenagers on my wife’s birthday. We ended up getting takeout and eating in the lobby.

The staff were so gracious during our two-night stay. We had a little balcony that was lovely for morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening, and the beds and pillows were incredibly comfortable. Breakfast was included each day, with a good mix of hot and cold choices. The nearby pub had excellent food and service, and we got a discount on food and drinks as guests at the Best Western Plus. We had a great time and would happily stay again.

The room was fine, and breakfast was okay, but our family won’t be back. The pool towel situation was ridiculous: after swimming one night, I found there were none, and no staff were around. I waited half an hour before flagging someone down, then another 20 minutes for a staff member to show up without a towel. She went to look for someone else, and I waited another 20 minutes before finally getting one. In the evening the restaurant was operating as a bar, so my 16-year-old son couldn’t come in. They seated us in a large, dim room down the hall, where we were practically alone. The server checked on us now and then, but it was a strange setup and we didn’t enjoy it. The place also feels run down and needs renovating. Baseball teams were there too, and the kids took over the pool for much of our stay. Staff tried to get security to handle it, but it was still overwhelming. I counted 30 kids in the pool, along with their parents, and it was a nightmare.
