Manteo at Eldorado Resort

We went to Manteo last night and had a pleasant evening, mostly thanks to the spectacular setting. The food was a mixed bag: the focaccia and cheesecake were delicious, while my fish was overcooked and the chef's special pasta was just okay. Service took a while, though the place was quite busy. I'd come back to sit on the deck for drinks and appy's.

The property is lovely, with a well-equipped gym and excellent restaurants. We were visiting Kelowna for the first time and were glad we picked the Manteo. Riley and Aman, along with the front desk team, were wonderful, professional, and great with customer service. Thanks to everyone for making it such an enjoyable visit. We'd highly recommend staying here.

The lake view is beautiful, but the room layout doesn't make the most of it. The beds and furniture face into the room instead of toward the windows. Our room was spacious and the bed was comfortable, yet the hotel felt neglected in plenty of other ways. The bed feet were broken, the bathroom was tiny and old, and we only got one small soap bar and three little lotions. The TV is small and tucked into a dresser, so you can't see it from other parts of the room. Getting around was frustrating. The single elevator is extremely slow, and people waiting in the hall often talked about it. The stairs are at the far ends of the building, inconvenient for reaching the lobby. The fitness facility is adequate, and the Mateo pool and hot tub are small, though guests can also use the bigger indoor and outdoor pools at the Eldorado next door. Coffee in the lobby stops right at 9am, and after that there's nowhere casual to get a cup and sit to talk or read. The little food and drink kiosk could use an all-day coffee machine. The restaurant has a nice Mediterranean menu, but it feels set up for formal dining, with a host and reservations, rather than letting guests drop into a bar or patio area. Breakfast also lacks lighter, smaller choices, so it won't suit people looking for healthier options.

It's 11:32pm and the DJ downstairs is singing YMCA. Since 7pm, I've heard the club/lounge through my room, which cost 400cad /night. It sounds like I'm in a club bathroom, the bass from 2010 pop hits comes through the floor, and there's a faint smell of weed. If you're traveling with kids like I am, don't book here, or at least ask for a room far from the lounge.
