The Larix Hotel

The cedar sauna and breakfast were lovely, and we really liked the decor. It fit the building and ski-town feel without leaning on the usual mountain slogans. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable, and the staff went out of their way to make the stay nice. Still, allergy sufferers should know the whole hotel is dog friendly. I found a piece of dog food at check-in, although the room otherwise looked very clean. I asked if we were in a pet-friendly room and was told every room was. I love dogs, but I’m allergic to some breeds, and it hadn’t occurred to me that all rooms would allow pets when I booked. Guest services offered to vacuum again, but I didn’t think that was needed. Pet dander gets deep into carpets and bedding, and my puffy eyes each morning made me think the previous guests probably let their little scruffy sleep on the bed. Our three-night stay was almost perfect, but I’m not sure we’ll return. If Larix ever makes some of its 20 rooms pet-free, we’d definitely come back. It’s a special place for people without allergies.

The room was modern and had nice ambient lighting, and this was the most comfortable hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Our dogs were included in the reservation at no extra charge. I called a week ahead to switch rooms, and it was handled without any fuss. Breakfast was outstanding and worked well for someone with celiac. We only had one night, so didn’t get to enjoy all the amenities, but they also granted our late checkout when we asked an hour before checkout. It felt like a Hallmark Christmas movie, in a stunning spot just outside Kimberley's iconic platzl. I’ll definitely return for a longer stay. Thank you, Larix!

You’re only a block from the Platzl, and there’s more parking beside the hotel if the limited spaces fill up. Check-in staff were incredibly friendly. The room had lots of character in a good way and felt comfortable, with a very comfortable bed and a nicely sized bathroom. Breakfast was a little above average for a continental spread, with both hot and cold choices.

The sauna was easy to book and made the stay even cozier. The hotel also has a free charging station, which made getting around easy while we had an electric rental car. It’s within walking distance of downtown Kimberley, and we loved being able to explore whenever we wanted. Staff were extremely friendly and made the place feel comforting, almost like home. The continental breakfast was a nice step up and got us ready for the day. There were complimentary drinks and snacks in the lounge around the clock, plus a fridge and microwave that came in handy for restaurant leftovers. A beautiful, cozy place to stay. We’d definitely come back.
