Lakeview Motel

***SCAM*** We agreed on $1,400 a month for the larger unit with a kitchen, after I’d first mentioned a regular room at $1,200 a month. My husband was going to work for Bruce Power for eight weeks from January to March, and I said I’d be there part time with our dog. Then the owner said that because we’d be there all the time, there’d be another $200 for extra cleaning after the dog, making it $1,600 a month. I understood that. Five minutes later, he called back and said it would now be $2,000 a month, and couldn’t explain the additional $600. That makes no sense. Don’t book here. Agreeing to one price and then raising it like that feels like a scam. I’ve also read earlier reviews about the new owners saying the place isn’t very clean. How unfortunate.

The room had all the basic necessities and was well maintained, apart from the AC unit’s front filter, which was packed with dust. It wasn’t too hot during my short stay in town, only late in the evening and early in the morning, so I didn’t need to turn it on. An exhaust fan in the bathroom would have been nice. The motel is on a main street, close to everything, and the owner and staff were very friendly and helpful.

We spent four nights here and would stay again. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. It’s an older motel with some charm, but well maintained and close to the town centre, with the beach within walking distance. The pool and BBQ, garden, and social area felt private, quiet, and inviting. It’s a family-owned business, and you can see the pride the owners take in it. We’d recommend this motel.

We stayed five days. My husband was working nearby, and I was comfortable working on my computer in the room. The owners are friendly and are working on upgrades to the units. I wish them well and would stay there again.
