Centennial Motel

Honestly, it’s an $80 motel off the highway for when you’re too tired to keep driving. You get a bed, bathroom, coffee, and friendly staff. Don’t expect much more, but it didn’t actually feel unsafe to me, unless you’ve never stayed in a cheap motel. The room does have a horror-movie feel, like you’re trapped and hoping the serial killer doesn’t know your room number. There was no deadbolt, so the family had a little adventure trying to use things in the room to secure the door. The dusty wall fan and random shelf stuff, a single 9v battery, old smoke detector, and random books, added to the prison atmosphere, like previous prisoners hadn’t made it. The friendly, helpful guy at the front desk almost spoiled the scary mood.

It was quiet, and I liked being able to walk straight from the car to the room. The owners were nice, the price was good, and the beds were comfortable. The room had the necessities, with the space used well, especially in the bathroom. It was clean, though a deeper clean would help, like washing the walls and baseboards and cleaning the crevices where the tub meets the shower.

A good value for budget accommodation right in central Kindersley, just behind the 7-11. The location makes getting around convenient.

For the price, the room has useful basics: comfortable beds, a good TV, strong shower pressure, a microwave, and a mini-fridge. The toilet faces the sink in an awkward way, though. I’m tall and couldn’t sit straight without my knees hitting it. There aren’t many outlets, and there’s no power in the bathroom for a razor or hair dryer.
