Comfort Suites Kingston Central

This was genuinely awful, and we won't come back. Noise carried from the room above and through the hallway, so we could hear everything. Check-in took half an hour because they couldn't program the key cards. The shower had black mold, and the bathroom hooks fell right out of the door. Doors had chunks hacked away around the locks. People also kept trying to enter our room through the connecting door. They slipped the bill only halfway under our door overnight, leaving strangers able to grab it and see our personal information. At the pool, they rent it out to people who aren't staying at the hotel, and those people took up most of the space without even speaking to us. We couldn't get any sleep. They waived the $6 parking charge, but that felt like adding insult to injury. I said the fee shouldn't be charged when you're already paying to stay, but waiving it did nothing to fix a sleepless night and mold in the shower. In their reply they asked how I could have received $6 off if I hadn't spoken to someone. They knew about all the issues and decided the parking charge should be included in the stay, so yes, I did speak to them.

The hotel is old, and they charge for parking. I just wanted a cheap place to stay in Kingston while my husband was in the hospital, but I wouldn't choose this one again. I do like the other Quality Inn & Suites on Robinson in Kingston and would recommend that location. Things went wrong right away. I washed my hands, saw a small spider near the sink and flicked it into the basin, then found the sink wouldn't drain. I called the desk; the man said someone would come in a few minutes. While waiting, I tried the tub, but couldn't get water to run. The man eventually cleared the drain and said you have to pull really hard to turn on the tub faucet. Over two nights, my room key wouldn't open the outside door nearest my room, so I had to go to the desk. A roach was walking on the counter. When I asked the clerk, he said it was a beetle found all over Kingston, and I chose to take his word for it. Later the bathroom light was on, even though I hadn't left it that way because the fan is loud and stays on. The bed wasn't made, and the facecloth I'd put beside the tub to be replaced was still there. I'm not sure who had come in or why. I've never heard of a hotel charging for parking.

The room had everything I needed, including a microwave, fridge, and coffee machine. Breakfast was a lovely complimentary buffet, and parking was easy and only $6. I had a comfortable, relaxing weekend here. It was cozy, very clean, and quiet.

Mediocre at best. You can see they've updated an old motel, but there are still cracks and holes in the walls and doors. The chair was stained all over, the bed's duvet was basically a sheet, and the shower drained poorly. The pool situation was strange too. While our family was swimming and having fun, two very rude instructors came in to teach children's lessons and took over more than three quarters of the pool without saying a word to us. A heads-up would've been appreciated. Stay at the place next door.
