Les Jardins de L'Achillée Millefeuille

Monique and Claude were lovely hosts, and they even gave me fresh eggs from their chicken coop. I spotted chipmunks, deer, blue jays, and humming-birds while relaxing around the gazebo, which has an outdoor kitchen with what you need for simple meals, plus tables and lights for the evening. Le grenier des amoureux is a small, cute room with a sink, above the owner’s garden workshop. The bed was comfortable and big enough for two, and the patio door opens onto a balcony overlooking the garden. It’s a lovely spot for stargazing. The toilet and shower are outdoors, which gave the stay a summer camping feel. The property is right by Le p’tit train du nord trail. By bike, it’s about 25 minutes to Labelle and roughly the same to Mont-Tremblant village, or 10 minutes by car. The rivière rouge is a five-minute walk away, with a sandy beach. I’m definitely coming back next summer!

Check the cancellation policy and be careful about communicating with the owner. I cancelled almost two days ahead because I had the flu, and was charged 50% of the room rate, $80. I emailed the owner hoping to work it out and maybe book another weekend when I wasn’t sick. It’s been over a week with no reply. Terrible customer service, in my opinion.

They advertised two beds and a private entrance, but there was only one bed and a mattress, with no private entrance. They refused to refund me at all and denied responsibility. Worst hotel stay I’ve ever had. Avoid it!

It’s a quiet little spot to get away from the city’s craziness, and the owner is very accommodating. The rooms are clean, but small, with no air conditioning or wifi. Bring bug repellent. It doesn’t feel like good value to me, but that won’t stop me from coming back.
