Auberge des Nuages

We only stayed one night and got in late, but the view was a lovely surprise, and there’s a private outdoor spot to sit and take it in. The room was cozy and clean, with a nicely refurbished bathroom. The building is older, though some work has been done. For the price, it’s a great place. Thanks for having us!

We still have such fond memories of this place. Our suite was quiet and lovely, just right for spending hours reading and thinking. In the morning, you could hear ship horns in the distance, which suited the setting. Breakfast was short and simple, but enjoyable, and the dining room felt warm and inviting. It was a peaceful stay that gave us room to relax.

The rooms were clean, but that was about the only thing we liked. The bathrooms were tiny and dated, the carpets old, and the paint peeling. There were also amenities left abandoned, including an empty hot tub that looked like it might have come from the hotel in The Shining. We booked three nights and managed only one, partly because we arrived late and couldn’t find another place. Maybe the renovations were disrupted by COVID, but the Auberge Des Peupliers needs serious upgrades before I’d suggest staying there. If you’re after a budget trip with a 1970s family wagon feel, this might be your kind of place.

It was a pleasant, quiet getaway at a cute country inn. Breakfast was delicious, and the main building’s salon, breakfast room, and foyer were beautiful. Our room was clean and adequate, the bed was comfortable, and the heat worked well, though there wasn’t anything especially memorable about the room. The bathroom had a cheap-feeling sliding pocket door, and we could hear people moving around upstairs. We enjoyed our stay, even if it didn’t feel as special as expected. There also isn’t a lot to see in La Malbaie.
