Cozy, clean, and a really nice place.

The two kitchen areas made it easy for our group to spend time together without bothering the other visitors. It’s an easy place to get to, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. A lovely spot for a weekend in Charlevoix.

The breakfast was a real treat: for an extra $20, we had a delicious meal overlooking the river with lovely music. Breakfast wasn’t included, but that was money well spent. We could use the refrigerator and microwave and had everything we needed to cook and eat. On our first evening, we even played cards with other guests. My husband is disabled, so we asked for a room without stairs and a grab bar to make getting into and out of the bath or shower easier. The owners were very friendly and had the bar installed when we arrived. We could park right in front of the patio door, and there’s an elevator to the second floor. We stayed from June 20th to 23rd, 2023. It’s not a Jaro hotel, but it was more than perfect for what we needed.

This cottage is very outdated. The bathroom was basic and had plastic glasses, and two insects came out of the walls. There’s no air conditioning. The cottage photos make it look better than it is, and my daughter had an old fan in her room to clear out the smell. I wouldn’t recommend it.

There are lots of lovely places to see nearby, so there’s plenty to do in a short time: the lilac gardens, where you can ring the church bells or picnic with an incredible river view; the Cap à l'Aigle wharf, with another superb view and the chance of seeing whales early in the season; and the beach just before the parking lot at the bottom, on your left as you go down the coast. There’s a superb waterfall there, too, so take pictures. Fraser Falls, the casino, and hiking in the high gorges are other possibilities. The place has a modern vintage feel, with old wooden floors that creak. You’ll have your own bathroom and kitchen for meals and aperitifs, so you can be independent. It’s like a journey through time ⏱️. If you’re the hotel type, this may not be for you, but the point is to explore this magnificent region, not stay inside listening to the floorboards! 😝
