Pavillon Le Petit Manoir Du Casino

We came back to the Charlevoix region for our second summer visit and managed to fit in more activities this time. We expected the area to be very rural even before our first trip, and this hotel works well as a home base after a long hike. The service met our expectations. This year we ate all our dinners at the restaurant, while getting breakfast and lunch from Metro. Last year we went to the Metro in town for food, though we did eat at the restaurant too. The hot tub was warmer this year, at 37 °C, whereas last year's felt cooler. The shuttle bus was excellent after our long hike on the Parc national des Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Rivière-Malbaie trail, Sentier de l'Acropole-des-Draveurs (900m accent). We had a nice chat with one of the drivers. The game room could use some attention: the table tennis paddles need replacing, and the pool table felt was completely worn out. Arrival was easy. Last year we checked in at the main building, but this time online check-in was available. We followed the instructions and picked up our access cards at the reception desk in Pavilion A, where Lucas greeted us. Everything was basically ready when we arrived.

They seem to care only about taking the money, not about their customers. The disaster management and unprofessional staff left guests wandering around, annoyed and trying to get to their rooms so they could relax. I was very disappointed. I gave this disaster of a hotel one star because there wasn't a lower rating.

This is our second year at this hotel, and we love the clean rooms, great location, and welcoming staff. We'll definitely stay here again on our next visit to Charlevoix.

The river view was lovely, and having a small freezer in the fridge plus a two-burner stove with pots, pans, and dishes made it easy to prepare meals. The room itself was spacious and nice, but the floorboards were coming loose enough that we worried we might go through them. The Pavilion is separate from the main building, with no staff there. The shower is in a large corner tub, which was hard to get into, and there isn't a separate shower. The bathroom door opens the wrong way, and the conditioner in the wall-mounted bottle smelled old.
