The hot dog was amazing, though I wasn’t too keen on the fries in the poutine. The poutine itself was great.

On our way to visit a friend, my husband, kids and I always make a stop at the casse croute. It’s become a tradition, and everything is delicious every single time. On our last visit we tried the bacon and onion poutine for the first time. Best poutine I’ve ever had, and I’m from Qc, so I’ve tried plenty. Definitely worth stopping for.

The motel is very basic, but it’s a good value for a one night stop. I stayed there in June 2009 while cycling back from Mont Laurier on the Petite Train du Nord trail, and the location was just about perfect, only a couple hundred yards from the trail. There’s a grocery store nearby, plus a small hot dog stand run by the owner down on the highway. The TV selection was pretty good, as I recall. A perfectly fine place to lay over for a night.

The soft-serve ice cream is really good.
