Beaver Lake Resort

We stayed in an Airbnb cabin, and it was great. The lake itself didn’t do much for us. The lots are all privately owned, and services are limited to whatever your Airbnb hosts offer, apart from a laundry facility.

The scenery is beautiful, but peace and quiet? Not here. There was partying, kids screaming, a baby crying, and dogs barking, so relaxing was out of the question. The outhouses smelled awful, even with air freshener. The see-through curtains meant the neighbours could watch whenever I changed. Maintenance seemed nonexistent, and we even got a pet mouse in the cabin. Enjoy!

The lake is lovely, and the shower and bathroom facilities are free and very clean. It’s a tranquil, private mobile home community with just a few basic tent and RV sites.

There’s a lot for kids here: a playground, fishing, a volleyball court on the beach, a dock, and go-carts. I also noticed an amphitheatre by the entrance, maybe for skits or summer movie nights. You can take a beautiful, scenic walk around the historic lake, and the store is open daily in summer for things like ice cream or a replacement septic hose. It’s closed during winter, though you can ring the doorbell by the office and wait for the owner to come down. The office is otherwise closed all winter, but you can call the number and the owner will come by to check you in. I’ve been a Boy Scout for 15 years and camped all over the island, in the bush and at campgrounds. This is hands down the best campsite I’ve stayed at on the island. Prices are extremely reasonable, staff are friendly and helpful, and the local residents and shareholders are happy to see campers. The sites are a little close together, but large shrubs give them some privacy. They’re regularly cleaned and tidied, and the bathrooms are cleaned daily. Showers are free, and there’s laundry on site. It’s close to town, but you wouldn’t know it once you’ve settled in. Strongly recommend it. Best campsite on this rock!
