Auberge Les Bons Matins

We came for a Canadiens game and could see the Bell center from the front door. The room was lovely, full of charm, very clean, and had all the amenities we needed. Sam greeted us at check-in, explained everything clearly, and knew the accommodation so well that we wondered if he was the owner, though we didn’t ask. He was great. It felt like a small boutique hotel with much more local character than the mass-produced places down the street. We only stayed one night, but we’d come back and ask for the top-floor room. The basement rooms are nice too, but sound carries a lot. You can hear people whispering next door, and morning footsteps or staff and guest chatter might wake you if you’re downstairs. Earplugs or headphones should help, but keep it in mind if you’re sensitive to noise.

We had a great spot for a Bell Center game, and parking out back was a real plus. The room felt cozy and cute, with plenty of personality. Sound travels easily here, so pack earplugs.

The location made it easy to get around, with a metro nearby and grocery stores, restaurants, Parc Mont Royal, and la belle rue Sainte Catherine all a short walk away. We also appreciated the shaded parking lot beside the property. My husband and I stayed two nights this summer. Our room was quiet and had everything we needed, including a small round table for working and good space for our bags. The management has put real care into making the place cozy and artfully decorated. Reception isn’t staffed all day, which took some getting used to, but letting management know our arrival time made check-in simple, and they replied quickly by text. We usually head out early, so we missed breakfast this time, but the dining room is lovely and we’ll try it next visit. It was a charming change from the nearby hotel chains, and I’d recommend it.

Breakfast was a highlight: the eggs Benedict and French toast were among the best I’ve had. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and accommodating, and check-in and checkout were easy. Even though we arrived very late after a stressful trip, they’d made sure ahead of time that we had what we needed. Parking was straightforward, with good directions. The room was gorgeous, with fun antique furniture and beautiful paintings, a refreshing break from the usual grey and beige. I was looking forward to soaking my joints in the big tub after a day of walking and worried it might not fill with hot enough water, but there was plenty. My wife and I had a lovely stay, and it was a beautiful experience for a very reasonable price.
