The Kiwi Motel

We liked the motel’s vibe, though it could use some TLC. There were salt marks and boot prints in the shower, and the hot tub had no lights. We could only use half of it because the cover was broken and wouldn’t fold back unless we took it all the way off. The bar was closed at 3pm on a Saturday, just after we arrived, which seemed odd. It wasn’t our favorite winter getaway, though perhaps summer would be nicer.

The outdoor space was beautiful and well cared for, and I loved the cozy feel, hot tub, and fire pit. My husband and I stayed in the papaya suite for a little December birthday getaway. It was very clean and comfortable, and manager Melissa was fantastic and welcoming. I’ll definitely book again!

I came for a one-day retreat hosted at the motel and had an amazing time. It would also be a great spot for a family getaway, a girls’ trip, or a cozy weekend as a couple. The pool, hot tub, cabanas, and fire pits made for such a relaxing atmosphere, and the kind, welcoming staff really made it feel like home. Everything was spotless, comfortable, and thoughtfully looked after. I’ll 100000% be back, no question!

I was surprised by all the negative comments I saw when I came to leave a good review. The beds do squeak, but our room was extremely clean, the staff were exceptional, and we had a wonderful stay. In a tourist town on the water, I expect prices to be high. I have no complaints. It’s a perfect place for a girls’ weekend or a couples retreat, and we’ll definitely be back.
