UNB Fredericton Summer Hotel

A very well-run summer university hotel, and a good place to rest after a long day of driving. We stayed in a double room on our way out of the Maritimes. It was cheap and clean, nothing fancy, with a reasonably comfortable mattress and pretty bad pillows. The shared bathrooms were clean, the halls quiet, and Wi-Fi was free. We left too early the next morning to try the complimentary breakfast, but assuming it's decent, that's a nice extra at this price. The desk staff were extremely organized and friendly. Like other university residence hotels, it isn't fancy, and the prices reflect that.

The campus was nice and it was easy to get into town. There was also a common room with seating and a kitchen nearby. Our suite had a big fridge, four-burner stove, and sofa, but the dishes were dirty and the dishwasher hadn't been run. At check-in, staff seemed to be making a lot of mistakes from what I heard. My friend found used bedding and an unclean suite, though they apologized and gave a full refund. The place was like an oven, and even with all the fans provided, we couldn't cool it down enough to feel comfortable. The facility wasn't all bad, but because of the heat I wouldn't recommend staying here or use this location again.

The suite had a full kitchen, which was great, and the rooms were a decent size. The accommodations were good and cheap, with a bit of that student-days feel. There was no AC, though, and the high temperatures made that hard. Bring fans if hot weather is expected.

The building dates from the 1950s and feels completely outdated. The room light barely lit the space, the bed was uncomfortable, and the shared washrooms and showers were disgusting. The metal doors make a lot of noise whenever anyone on your floor opens or closes one. You can hear everything through the walls, whether it's other people or the machines on the roof outside, which makes sleep difficult. The price is the only good thing, and you get what you pay for. I'd pay more for an actual hotel. I lived in university residence for three years, and I can't believe students stay in these dorm rooms during the school year. They're horrible and not fit to live in. Those residence buildings should be torn down and replaced.
