Motel Le Refuge

We found the parking convenient, right near our unit, and the motel was quiet. The layout worked well, everything was very clean, and the location was excellent. We could walk to a grocery store, and the mini fridge and microwave were handy for making some of our own food. There are nice nearby trails for cross-country skiing and walking. We stayed in February and will definitely return.

I've been thinking about this for three days before writing. We'd stayed here before and been satisfied, but this time was heartbreaking. In Room #6, there were no instructions or clear icons showing how to turn off the shower water with its two shower heads. The front desk had told us to leave the fan on during a shower so the smoke alarm wouldn't go off, but nothing explained the taps. I had to figure them out by trial and error. While I was showering, the gold necklace and cross medallion my son had given me for my birthday just nine days earlier came off and landed beneath the drain cap. I tried frantically to shut off the water, but the other overhead faucet came on and the water wouldn't stop. Turning the tap the other way only increased the flow, and it washed my cherished cross down the drain. I'm still beside myself. Why was the faucet so difficult to operate and turn off? If there had been any kind of indicator or instructions, I might still have my son's birthday gift.

For one night, it was perfect. The rooms were basic but clean, and the prices were reasonable. This was easily the most comfortable motel we've stayed in. Laura was incredibly kind and welcoming, and made us feel sure we'd chosen the right place. Great value.

We were happy to have a little fridge and a coffee maker, and there were plenty of towels. The bedding was really comfortable and the place was super clean. Laura, the front desk manager, was so sweet. She took time to point out the nearest laundromat and attractions in the nearby village. We'll definitely be back, and I'd encourage anyone visiting Sherbrooke to stay here.
