Hawberry Motel

For me, the location worked perfectly: I wanted a starting point for seeing Manitoulin Island, and it also made a good end to my drive that day. The front desk woman was polite and friendly, and my room was clean with the basics I needed: a bed, shower, fridge, and small desk and chair. I stayed in Aug 2025 and wasn't sure what to expect. I'm more used to places like Comfort Inn and Holiday Inn, so I was a bit skeptical, but this turned out pretty good. Just keep in mind it's a small roadside motel in a small town, not a Hilton, Hampton Inn, or five-star resort with all the amenities. If that's what you're expecting, you'll be disappointed. For a night or two while exploring the island, it was a great fit.

The bathroom was especially tight for my wife and me, since we're both large people. When I sat on the toilet, my legs were under the sink, and my wife, who has mobility issues, had trouble using the washroom. Keep that in mind if space could be a concern. Even with the small room, we slept well. The bed was clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly, and the location is very convenient. It's a nice little motel, though it is showing its age a bit. Fine if you're not expecting a luxury resort.

The receptionist was welcoming, and there was plenty of parking. The rooms have a sort of retro look and were nice and clean. The bedsheets were clean and in good condition, and you can enjoy the view from the parking area. The bathtub was a little small, and in my room it was a bit broken. Hot water also sometimes cut off while I was showering.

The room itself was clean, as was the hotel, and the staff were very friendly. But our room had a urine smell, maybe from a toilet leak that got into the subfloor and was covered up. Our friends' room next door smelled musty. If they can fix the smell, we'll definitely come back next time we're on the island. The location in Little Current is great for getting around on foot. There's a grocery store next door, a gas station across the street, and a great ice cream joint just a couple of minutes away. Downtown, the waterfront, and the marina are all an easy walk.
