Wheelhouse Motel

Check-in was friendly at this large motel, which has lots of rooms. Out back, there's a nice spot to sit in the shade of the trees. Breakfast isn't included. The rooms are practical, with a desk, table, chairs, small fridge, TV, microwave, and coffee maker. The colourful town photographs hanging as room artwork are available for sale at the motel; they were taken by the owner.

The room was great, and the shower had amazing water pressure. The woman at check-in was really nice and gave us lots of helpful information. There's a restaurant within walking distance, and Tim Hortons, a grocery store, and a liquor store are all very close. The main strip of town isn't far either. It cost a little more than I wanted to pay, but it was worth it in the end. I'd definitely stay again.

I was disappointed with Lunenburg as a whole and won't recommend it to anyone. The roads and sidewalks had holes everywhere, restaurants and shops closed very early, and after two years without tourists, I expected a warmer welcome. I got the opposite impression, as did many others. I ended up eating at Subway. I stayed at the motel for one night on July 5, 2022, and found it run-down and not worth the money. They should provide better soap; the tiny bar barely lathered, which felt like too much cost-cutting. The dark carpets need to go because you can't tell how dirty they are. There was no room phone for emergencies, and not everyone has a cell.

The rooms were clean, and both the beds and pillows were really comfortable. It took no more than a 15-minute walk to get to the Lunenburg warf, and there were nice places around the property to sit and enjoy the surroundings.
