Airport Motor Inn

The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and breakfast was good. The muffins tasted really fresh, too. We were in the older part of the motel, on the pet friendly side, though our room itself wasn’t pet friendly. At check-in, the staff member asked whether we had animal allergies so she could make sure the hallway wouldn’t bother us. Our room faced away from the highway, and there was little to no traffic noise.

We were worn out after finishing a seven day end to end hike on the Pukaskwa Coastal Hiking Trail and still had a long drive home ahead of us. The park’s comfort station was packed, so we stopped in Marathon instead. Airport Motor Inn was the first place we spotted. We filled up on gas, picked up toiletries, and they let us rent a room just to shower for a VERY reasonable price. The room was spotless, the water was hot, and everyone there was kind and accommodating. I really appreciate local inns like this.

The beds were comfortable enough, but the room smelled bad and the carpet near the windows was damp. There was even a bathroom notice saying to boil the water before drinking it. For what they charge, I wasn’t impressed at all. I was shocked they had the nerve to put a security deposit on my card, lol. One of the poorer hotels I’ve stayed at. I won’t be back.

We landed here for an unexpected night after a problem with our travel trailer, and after a chaotic day it turned out to be a pleasant stay. Our room, 201, was clean, the bed was really comfortable, the fridge worked, and both the sink and tub were clean. Hot water was no problem, and the shower was great. The continental breakfast had a good mix of hot and cold options, so there should be something for most people. The hotel is dated, and I can’t speak for the other rooms. One small thing: we only got the agreed room price verbally at check-in, with no written quote. With staff changing in the morning, I’d get the price in writing.
