I chose this place to keep costs down, though it still came to $301 for three nights. The free parking was plentiful and right by the rooms, the WiFi was quite fast, reception was available around the clock, and it was quiet. There was no fridge or microwave in the room, and no one told us about complimentary breakfast, even coffee. Housekeeping made the bed but left the trash. We had to ask for shampoo, and the furniture was old.

The rooms and all the bedding, towels, and pillows were very clean. Ours had a large queen bed rather than two doubles, and the room itself was spacious and felt very safe. We paid 100 Canadian dollars for one night, including 15% taxes, which seemed fair. The owners seemed like a lovely couple in their 50s, and they were nice too. After a tiring day touring Montreal, this quiet motel about 15 miles from downtown was a welcome place to unwind. We even saw a deer wander onto the property. A very large Metro grocery store with prepared foods, plus several restaurants, is two miles away.

Room 110 was far from the worst place we've rented, but it came close. We game a lot and rely on the Internet, and the connection there wasn't good enough for gaming. It was so inadequate that I had to reload Google just to look up the motel for this review. There was no carpet, which I liked, but the floor under the bed hadn't been cleaned. The small walk-in shower was cramped, and the AC made a high-pitched squeak along with an odd smell. We could easily hear doors slamming from inside the room.

Motel Pignons Rouges, thanks for the hospitality! The staff were amazing and made sure we had a pleasant stay. It's affordable, comfortable, and accommodating. Parking is free on site, and there are two WiFi options. They also returned my deposit in cash, which is unusual since other places can take a business day or more. I'll be back! : ) ox

I stayed for one night in 2012. It was a cheap motel, and that's what I was after. Could it have been nicer? Sure, but then the price would probably have gone up. At this rate, yes, I'd stay again. If it cost $10 more, maybe not. I don't know. I looked closely at the negative reviews and noticed many were copied word for word by different people, sometimes even the same people. My impression was that one or two competitors might be running a smear campaign. This place has faults, but I don't think it's as bad as people make it sound. Just remember, it's not the Hilton and doesn't charge Hilton prices.
