Spark by Hilton Toronto Markham

Nathan at the front desk was welcoming and very helpful, and arranged an early check-in for us. The location is good, close to the highway. Rooms were clean, service was very good, and breakfast was free.

We had no major complaints for the price. The tub-based shower is aging and prone to clogs, and the walls are thin enough that you can easily hear the neighbors. Those were minor issues for us. This is a simple, inexpensive option near Markham if you're coming for the food. The outside doesn't look like much, but the rooms are clean, breakfast feels fresh, and the basic amenities are there. There's a small pool instead of a gym, if that's more your speed. The location is the standout: right beside Costco for picking up bottled water, within walking distance of Tim Hortons and several high-quality cafes, and a short drive from lots of restaurants. Service was good, check-in quick and smooth, and there was plenty of room in the parking lot. For this price, you can't ask for more.

The pool area was clean and quiet, and I enjoyed it. Breakfast at the bagel bar was fresh and kept tidy and replenished by the attendant. Both front desk staff were pleasant and efficient. Great service overall, and the place was very clean and comfortable.

I heard doors banging and people talking in the lobby while I was trying to sleep. The neighborhood felt a little sketchy, though it's not far from downtown. This seemed more like a motel than a 3-star hotel, and the pictures were misleading, looking mostly AI or design-program generated. They say each room has a tea and coffee maker and a microwave, but mine didn't. I stayed once and won't return. Do yourself a favor and pay a bit more for somewhere better. I don't recommend it.
