Prairie Crest Medicine Hat by IHG

Both times we stayed for one night, the beds were comfy and everyone was so friendly, from reception and the cleaners to the kitchen staff. We arrived late with our sleeping baby, and they were happy to set up our pack-and-play ahead of time. The staff kept us updated, too. Breakfast was fantastic, with hot eggs or mini omelettes, potatoes, and bacon, plus the usual cold options. We’ll definitely come back!

We were heading across the country and needed a simple stop off the Trans Canada Highway. For the price, this place was exceptional, and the bed was comfortable. There was a PlayStation in the room, plus movies and games to borrow from the main lobby. Coffee, tea, and cookies were available all day and night, and continental breakfast was included. The staff were amazing, even offering us a paper bag to take breakfast on the road when we had to leave quickly. I’d stay here again if I’m in the area.

We learned the hard way that this hotel allows pets. I have a dog myself and don’t have anything against dogs, but the pair of smaller dogs in the room above got into a fight. I could hear their claws scratching across the laminate floor, too 🥴

At over $200 a night, I expected better cleanliness and came away disappointed. The hallways were stained, and the bathroom looked like it needed renovation, so I kept my slides on in the shower. Staff were courteous at check-in, but later there wasn’t even a hello when I passed the front desk. The accommodation was adequate, but at a rate closer to $100 a night I’d have been less inclined to write a review.
