The Lodge at Weir's Beach

I booked and paid for my site in February, but when I arrived a couple of weeks ago, I was told my RV wouldn’t fit in the space I’d reserved. After we talked it over, they let me check, and the RV fit just fine. The nightly rate is high. I’ve stayed at other oceanfront campgrounds with the same services for much less. Sadly, the comments about the place being run down are right.

My sister is on her deathbed and has only a matter of weeks to live, so I had to cancel because of a family matter beyond my control. I know there’s a cancellation policy, and I’d accept the loss if I’d cancelled for another reason, but I found their lack of compassion disgusting. They wouldn’t refund my camping fee. Instead, they cancelled the reservation, kept my money, and can assign the spot to someone else and make double the profit. I gave them one star, though I would’ve given zero.

The ocean view is nice, and the resort is right on the beach. We spent five nights here after coming from Calgary, but the beach smelled very bad. The facilities are very old, the Wi-Fi was really unstable, and for the price, come on. I feel there are much better options. Won’t come again.

The owners answered my questions quickly by email, but I never saw them in person. When we arrived at 6:30 p.m., nobody was at the office. Calling this a resort is a stretch. It’s pretty run down, and we’ve stayed in nicer places for much less.
