Avenue Motel

The location is decent, but service was average at best. During my first two nights, I found cockroaches in both rooms. When I asked to change rooms, the staff member demanded proof before agreeing. I told him I wasn’t comfortable staying there. The lower-level rooms can also get noisy at night, with sounds from other rooms, people talking, and cars parked right outside.

I came late at night while visiting someone in the hospital and asked for a non-smoking room. The one they gave me smelled strongly of cigarettes and weed, so I left right away. Even my only set of clothes smelled bad.

The only thing I liked was that the room temperature was adjustable and the system worked well. My fiance and I arrived to a dirty room with unwashed sheets and cigarettes everywhere, like it hadn’t been cleaned after the last guest. The replacement room was better, but there was some unknown bodily fluid running down the wall beside the bed, footprints all over the walls, and a bathroom door with no latch that looked like it had been kicked in. The area felt relatively safe, though parts of it were kind of sketchy. It was a good price, but I wouldn’t recommend this motel to anyone who can’t handle a really gross-looking place. I’ll find a better motel next time.

I stayed at Avenue Motel last week. The staff were friendly, attentive, and ready to help, which made for a positive experience. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and I thought they were good value. Its convenient location near downtown Toronto and the airport works well for travelers.
