Delta Hotels by Marriott Toronto Mississauga

The beds were good and I slept well, and the staff were friendly. The room was alright, though it could have been cleaner. The fitness room is open 24/7, which is handy when jetlagged, and has several cardio machines. It isn’t well ventilated and could use more weightlifting equipment, but it was good enough. Breakfast isn’t a big buffet, and there’s even less for anyone who doesn’t eat gluten. The eggs and bacon were good.

Being close to the mall was handy, and having a Starbucks there was great. The room was okay and relatively clean, and the bed was comfortable, but there was no fitted sheet, so the flat one kept getting messed up overnight. The bathroom was the worst part. The saloon style doors don’t lock, ours wouldn’t latch and was broken, and the shower door leaked onto the floor along with crud from the seals. The provided products were actually nice, with a pleasant argan oil scent that wasn’t overpowering. It works for one night, but I wouldn’t return. We couldn’t get early check-in, and the staff were standoffish when I asked. At other hotels, staff have at least tried to help, but here they just said no. They said they were working on a free upgrade, which turned out to be a room on a higher floor. I’d only recommend it if you’re in a pinch.

The service is good, and the hotel has been clean all three times I’ve stayed. The problem is the hockey teams they host. At 8:30 in the morning, kids were playing hockey in the hallway while other guests were trying to sleep. We hadn’t all signed up for the tournament. I had to call the front desk twice and ask them to find the kids’ parents and get them out of the hallway. They need rules for teams, maybe putting them on one floor and telling parents that a hallway hockey game isn’t okay when other guests are trying to sleep.

The hotel and service were great, and the location is good, with some restaurants nearby that you can reach without going outside. Breakfast was good, but the breakfast service was probably the worst I’ve had. I stayed four nights and was offered a drink only once. Drinks aren’t self-serve.
