Holiday Inn Express & Suites Moncton by IHG

The rooms are simple, but modern, well appointed, spacious, and have large bathrooms. I liked having coffee, hot tea, and hot chocolate in the lobby, along with facilities like laundry, a pool and fitness centre, breakfast, and sundries. The location is excellent, and this is probably the nicest, cleanest hotel in Greater Moncton. Most of the staff were good, though on day two, two people at the front desk weren’t rude but didn’t offer the friendly service you’d expect there. I’ll definitely return. This one, the Holiday Inn in Saint John, and Dieppe are my three favourite Holiday Inn (Express) locations.

The kids had a great time in the pool, and there are lots of restaurants nearby. Breakfast was good, with a spacious, clean seating area, and the staff were kind and helpful. It’s a clean hotel near the highway and Moncton. Our only issue wasn’t the hotel’s fault, some little buggers were playing ding dong ditch at our door, lol.

We’d stayed here three times before and had decent visits, but our last two days in Moncton a few days ago were awful. The room was pretty gross, with scratched walls, cobwebs in the bathroom, only a couple of towels for three people, and a burning dust smell when we turned on the heat. The pool was disgusting too, and after swimming for about an hour we got itchy. On top of that, the doors were locked at 3:30, so we had to ring to get in. Check-in was frustrating: the man kept insisting I’d spelled my name wrong and told me to fix it in the app, even though I showed him it was correct on my phone. My three-year-old and I changed into swimsuits upstairs, then our key wouldn’t open the pool door. When we went back, the key had been deactivated. We had to wait 15 minutes in line in our swimsuits while the now-unlocked door let in the cold. The check-in guy didn’t believe us. He reset the key, but it still failed, and it took another ten minutes to sort out, with the key still not working. The next day we went out, came back, and were locked out of our rooms again. Several other guests said it had happened to them too, and the front desk didn’t seem to care. It’s not worth the price, and we won’t stay again.

The noise really spoiled an otherwise pleasant stay. A group of rowdy kids, apparently here for sports, ran between rooms, banged on doors, and shouted past 3 a.m. We were traveling with a child ourselves and understand the excitement, but some quiet after 10 p.m. would have been appreciated. It was hard to sleep, especially disappointing with everything else going well, and I can see it being worse for people with early plans. The rooms were cleaned daily, staff were consistently friendly, breakfast was included with a good selection of eggs, sausages, pancakes, yogurt, and breads, and the beds were comfortable.
