Thriftlodge by Wyndham Moncton

For what it cost, this was a fantastic stay. The building is clearly old, but I found that part of its charm, and we had a quiet couple of nights. Parking was easy, breakfast came with yogurt, cereal, and toast, and the rooms were clean with plenty of amenities. The staff were excellent, too. We checked carefully for pests after reading other reviews and didn’t find bedbugs or anything else. I’m not sure why some reviews are so harsh. I had a really good time.

We were there February 4-7, 2026, and the location was great. Everyone working there was friendly and helpful, and the service was excellent. Our room was clean and the beds were really comfortable. We also ate at the restaurant, where the food was amazing and service just as good.

The morning after our stay, I found blue toothpaste on the floor between the double beds, along with dried blood nearby. My husband had also found two long hairs in the sheets, so he wasn’t sure they were clean. The toilet seat had been reattached after I reported it, but it came loose again as soon as he sat down. The tap kept dripping, too. We had booked one king bed for two adults for Dec24. After I called about arriving at 2pm instead of the 3pm check-in, I was told that coming before 2:30pm would cost extra. We got there at 3:30pm and were given a room that hadn’t been cleaned, with two double beds. At the desk they called the replacement room with two doubles an “upgrade”. It looked clean at first, but the toilet and tap problems were there. We left for a family Christmas gathering after I told the desk about the seat. My husband also left his charger and cords behind. I went back on the 27th, two days later, but they weren’t in lost and found. A very disappointing stay.

I left in the middle of the night and drove the 2 and a half hours home, with no refund. The hotel wouldn’t refund me and said Expedia would have to do it. They did release my deposit right away, but first tried to move me to yet another room, which I refused. The pool had froth on the surface and a huge dead spider floating in it. In my room, the bed smelled awful, the sheets had black particles and a long woman’s hair in them, and there was what looked like semen on the headboard and bedspread. I also saw phlegm on the wall and dried blood on the bathroom lights, wall, and ceiling. The fixtures were loose, so I had to borrow a screwdriver from them and tighten everything myself. I’d already been shown four more dirty rooms after asking for my money back over the first one. Since I had a concert to get to, I picked the best of those and planned to deal with it later. When I got back and looked more closely, it was disgusting. I’d booked through Expedia, and the staff said that made a refund difficult.
