Residence Inn Moncton

We’d hoped for a romantic, classy getaway after getting engaged that day, but the place felt run down and the small lobby was cold and unwelcoming. One of the two elevators was broken, which meant constant queues. Kids were racing around the halls late into the night, well past 8 or 9. The vending machines also had to be paid for at the desk, which didn’t take debit, and buying five waters for $30 took me 20 minutes. The package had no elevator to the hotel either, a real struggle in the bitter cold. The suite was more like an apartment for business travelers, with a tiny bathroom. The beds were comfortable and the sheets clean, though the mirrors weren’t very clean. Breakfast was included and had plenty of choices. We expected something much swankier for a $350 room, especially with The Keg attached. I might stay again for a party night, since it’s very central, and it could work well for a bachelorette party.

Breakfast had an excellent selection, and the room was nice with good service. The hot tub, though, wasn’t warm enough and had sediment in it. Parking also isn’t great, since the hotel is in the middle of the city.

The room never got refreshed during my stay, the window was stuck open, and the TV kept turning on by itself. The front desk manager and her bulldog were lovely, though, and the breakfast staff were wonderful. I’m not sure what’s going on with housekeeping. The checkout situation was frustrating. When I arrived, I asked for a 1 p.m. checkout and the front desk manager said that was fine. At 12:30 on checkout day, someone called to ask when I was leaving. I repeated 1 p.m. and kept getting my things together. At 1:01, someone tried to come into the room while I was still holding my shoes. A few minutes later, with my bags in hand, someone was asking again in the hallway. I’d already explained my checkout time.

The breakfast was great, and the staff were efficient and helpful. I travel for work and had a two-night stay recently. My room was clean, the bed comfortable, and the fresh linens and towels were good quality. I’ll stay here again when I’m back in Moncton.
