Hotel-Motel Le Boise du lac

There’s no breakfast service, but you can make your own meals using the spacious shared kitchen, including its fridge, pots, dishes, and utensils. There’s also a small private fridge in the room. Guests are asked to clean up afterward, which seems fair, and everyone was doing so, keeping the kitchen tidy. It had instant coffee, sugar, and powdered creamer; for proper coffee, there are places in town or at the ski resort. The older motel is quaint and clean, in a gorgeous spot, and the price was very reasonable. We were pleasantly surprised by the location and the full deck off the shared kitchen. There’s lots to do outdoors, from winter skiing to paddling and hiking in spring, summer, and fall, plus more. What else could you ask for?

It’s a quiet area, with skiing nearby, and the hotel works well for sleeping. A few things to know about the room before a Christmas break stay: all the beds are together in one sleeping room, the bathroom door only closes off the toilet and shower, and the fridge is just a mini fridge.

The lake view is gorgeous, and we’re considering coming back in summer to canoe and swim. We stayed in room 17, which has a fireplace. Fire logs cost extra, about $8 each, and one lasts roughly three hours. It’s a very cozy old motel, with dated decor that’s just right if you like retro. There’s a shared kitchen, and they ask you to wash your dishes when you’re done. The woman at reception was very sweet, and we had a great couple nights of sleep.

Our stay at Le Boisé du Lac was awful. The staff shouted at us when we raised simple concerns, and were completely unhelpful. That kind of disrespect is unacceptable in hospitality. The rooms weren’t properly cleaned, and several facilities seemed neglected or broken. What should have been a relaxing visit became stressful. Until they treat guests respectfully and maintain the property, I strongly advise avoiding Le Boisé du Lac.
