We’ve been staying at this hotel for quite a while, but this last visit was horrible. The room was okay, though the kitchen was missing a lot of basics like utensils, bowls, and plates. Our time at the pool was completely spoiled by the very angry, rude lifeguard. He was rude to my husband and me, and to our young kids, who hadn’t said or done anything to deserve it. We’d planned to return in summer, but canceled.

The kids all loved the very attentive lifeguard at the pool, and we had a cozy stay at Le Grand Lodge, with Christmas decorations and a lovely fireplace. From January 2nd to January 4th, I was there with my two daughters, their husbands, and five grandchildren. We were comfortable in three side-by-side lake view suites. The front desk staff were exceptional, especially Annick, Alex, and Patrick, who were friendly, professional, and competent. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast and one supper at the Whisky bar restaurant, eating beside the fireplace. We’re planning to return this summer. Highly recommend.

We had a lovely ski holiday at the grand Lodge, with 10 family members in three rooms, and the pool, hot tub, and saunas were awesome. Getting to and from the mountain and renting equipment was easy, and the kids especially loved the illuminated skating track through the Pines. The hotel desk staff were fabulous and gracious while I practiced my French, even though I’m sure they thought I was nuts. The bedroom itself was very dark, though there was ample room. Dinner was the main frustration. After a 10-hour drive, our meal took over two hours to arrive. They were understaffed for the number of diners, and didn’t comp anything even after we complained twice before the food arrived. The bar was too small for everyone who needed dinner, and waiting for a table by the fire, with only four or five seats, wasn’t ideal. When it’s that busy, they should probably open the adjacent function room for reserved dining or a place for adults to have a cocktail. The bar had only about eight stools and very little standing room. Breakfast was rather pricey, but delicious. You’ve got a gem up there in the great white north!

The best part was being able to watch the calm lake and both sunrise and sunset from our room. We stayed two nights in a lake-level suite with our small dog. The building feels a little old, but the suite was cozy and really clean, so the stay was well worth it. And do try the outdoor sauna, it’s a must!

The rink itself was lovely, and our child got to skate briefly while we walked nearby. But the way we were treated afterward left us with a very bad impression of Le Grand Lodge Mont-Tremblant and its management. We were in Mont-Tremblant on a family vacation and had looked on Google Maps for an evening activity for our child. The ICE RINK AND FOREST SKATING TRAIL listing said it was open 24 hours, with no mention that skating cost money. We later learned it was part of Le Grand Lodge Mont-Tremblant, where skating is included for hotel guests and costs money for other visitors. We were perfectly willing to pay, and would have paid right away if the charge had been clearly posted. We arrived at about 8 pm. It was dark, and we hadn’t seen any signs. As we were leaving, a woman came over and asked if we were staying at the hotel. She didn’t introduce herself, but it became clear she worked at the nearby store that takes rink payments and is part of the same complex. Once she knew we weren’t hotel guests, she spoke to us passive-aggressively, repeatedly suggesting we were “taking advantage” and saying several times that she usually calls the police when people refuse to pay. We had never refused. We asked immediately how much it was, paid 20 dollars in cash, and weren’t given a receipt. The repeated police comments were especially upsetting for our child, who is very sensitive. They had a real nervous breakdown, cried uncontrollably for a long time, and couldn’t calm down. No one representing a business that serves families should talk that way in front of a child. You can’t know how a child will react, and even a child without sensitivities could have been seriously frightened. There was no reason to escalate things when we were willing to pay from the start. Since the rink is part of Le Grand Lodge Mont-Tremblant, the hotel administration is responsible for how visitors are treated by people representing the property and its services. Threatening families in front of a child is unacceptable.
