Hôtel Quintessence

We slept comfortably all night, with no trouble getting the room temperature right. The bed and spacious room were great, and the customer service was excellent. The staff were accommodating with valet and luggage service several times. Compared with many famous luxury chains, I was impressed by how good this hotel is and would recommend it to anyone in the area. The two meals we tried weren’t great, one lunch at the hotel restaurant and one breakfast. Maybe we just had bad luck, but I’d eat elsewhere; there are lots of good restaurants nearby. The preorder breakfast form left in the room was confusing too. We ordered one breakfast meal for three people, but that came out as three of the same meal, much more food than we needed. I’d suggest ordering breakfast by phone.

This was my second stay in two years, and it’s hard to find anything to fault. The staff were so friendly, especially the bartenders and servers, who looked after us really well tonight. The room was the best I’ve had in 35 years, comfortable and elegant, with a fireplace and an amazing view across the lake. The pillows, sheets, and other linens were wonderfully plush. The kitchen did excellent food too: waygu burgers, omelette, rack of lamb, and cod were all delicious. It feels like a five-star home away from home. Thanks to everyone on staff.

We had a very good stay and would definitely return, which is why I wanted to share a couple of things that could be better. The carpets and room cleanliness need more attention. Housekeeping should also be more punctual when a cleaning time has been requested at the front desk. Better timing and attention to detail would make the experience truly excellent.

We came for an anniversary trip, but the stay was very disappointing. There was visible dust, an unpleasant smell, and a dead insect in the room. After spending some time there, I had skin irritation and itching, which made it uncomfortable. The jacuzzi wasn’t working, there were insects by the pool, the mattress was uncomfortable, and spa services weren’t available. They offered an upgrade, but the second room smelled even worse and had noticeable plumbing noise in the walls. We checked out about four hours after checking in and didn’t stay overnight. The experience didn’t match what was advertised.
