The newest chalet was really pretty and comfortable, and it had everything we needed to prepare our catch. We made a delicious dinner with the fish we caught. I’d been a little worried after reading reviews saying there were no fish, but we got nine in one morning. It was my first time ice fishing, and I caught three myself. We’ll definitely be back.

We showed up and saw plenty of empty boats ready to go, but the employees were extremely rude and wouldn’t rent us one because we hadn’t called ahead. I’d tried calling several times over multiple days to reserve a fishing trip, and no one ever answered. The service was awful. If you’re thinking of coming here, think again.

The cottage at Le Champetre was very nice and cozy. The fishing part of the stay, though, was disappointing. We arrived around noon for our one-night booking and were told we’d missed the morning fishing window, but could try again at the end of the day. We stayed until 5 p.m. and didn’t catch anything. A staff member saw us struggling but only came over at the end to explain that we should do it differently. I wish he’d helped sooner. We’d also booked a small shack to warm up in for the half day we were there. The owner wouldn’t let us pay half price even though we used it for only four hours instead of eight, which felt misleading.

The staff were friendly and accommodating, and I’d seriously consider staying here again. It’s a great spot if you want a cabin for ten in a quiet, remote setting on a Canadian lake. There was still cell service, which I liked, though someone looking to fully disconnect might not. The fireplace was nice for a fire and some peace and quiet. The one drawback was the ice on the parking area and path up to the cabin. I wish they’d kept those areas up a bit better.
