The Champlain Waterfront Hotel, an Ascend Collection Hotel

The main drawback was parking, since there isn't much on site. There's overflow parking available after you check in. The hotel is near the waterfront, and some rooms have a nice view. Service and breakfast were what you'd expect from this kind of hotel, and the room was fine. I'd rate it four and a half, but Google doesn't let me.

We woke up to bedbugs in the bed. It was horrifying, and I wish we'd checked reviews about the bedbug problem before booking. Management was rude and dismissive, despite seeming to know there was an issue because the rooms had recently been sprayed. Thankfully we spotted the bugs and took steps to avoid bringing an infestation home. I keep wondering how many guests may have unknowingly taken this nightmare back with them. Be aware before you book.

The rooms are small, but clean and comfortable. We could walk easily to downtown, the Opera House, and marina park. Service was friendly, and they agreed to a late checkout at no extra charge.

We had a smooth two-night stay, and the room rate was reasonable. Everything was clean and fresh, the location is great and close to everything, and the receptionists were friendly and helpful. I wish breakfast had more choices, maybe eggs or bacon. Soundproofing could be better too. Our room was right by the main intersection, so we heard everything and every car going by all night, lol. My partner and I enjoyed it and we'll be back next summer for sure. I highly recommend this hotel.
