The location is great, and the customer service was prompt and good. The room was a little dirty, though, and the sheets had stains in several places. We also found hairs on the pillows. Even for a cheap hotel, the sheets should be clean. We had to ask for toilet paper, and there wasn’t enough soap or shampoo in the room. Breakfast was basic but good. It’s not a luxury hotel, and you get what you pay for, so it could work if you want an inexpensive place and aren’t too picky.

The people were friendly, but they didn’t have the means to fix problems. For two days I had no cold water, and the hot water was too hot to use without mixing in cold. I brought my own towels, and I wish I’d brought a shower curtain too. The one in my room looked like it hadn’t been changed or washed in years. The cleaning lady meant well, but she couldn’t get clean curtains to help me with it. There were garbage bags by the main entrance and the rooms were very dirty. If you care about cleanliness, this hotel isn’t for you. I’m surprised it’s still open with these sanitation problems. I travel around the world and haven’t seen anything this dirty.

The location might be good, but there are two construction sites right next to the hotel. Please spend a bit more and stay somewhere else. The room was extremely tiny and falling apart. The shelf, toilet seat, mirror, bathroom door, and beds were all in bad shape. I found boogers on the wall, terrible stains on the carpet, and yellow sheets marked with bodily fluids. There was hair and stains all over the beds, and possibly bed bugs. After the cleaning lady had been in, the same yellow sheets were still there, along with used, crumpled toilet paper in the bed. The hair was still all over it. The kitchen looked awful too. Cookware seemed moldy and rusty, piled on dishes that looked like they’d been sitting there for ages. There were only about five other guests, so I doubt they were eating there. Parking was a joke. They charge a quick, nonrefundable $25 a night to park behind the hotel in a secluded, dimly lit lot, out of plain sight, with only five spaces. You could get mugged, have your vehicle stolen, or find someone blocking your car with no way out. Apparently you can leave your keys with the guy at reception so he can move it if you block someone. He takes personal calls on speakerphone while talking with other people.

The staff were welcoming, but that was the only good part. The rooms are ridiculously small and nothing like the pictures. The beds were dirty, with strangers’ hair everywhere. The carpets smelled and were dirty, and the bathroom was dirty too. The shower is tiny, and the TV is so small it doesn’t even work. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. I’d rather sleep in my car than come back.

The grounds have apparently been bought by developers, so management says this gem of a place may soon be gone. After all those outdoor staircases straight to the rooms, it was easy to leave without being slowed down by meddling security standards. Goodbye, Hotel A2K, you won’t soon be forgotten. Our immaculate three-bedroom apartment hotel, a mystery room, offered a great canal view. The family portraits left in the room gave it that extended-home feeling. The Jackson Pollock inspired sheets and walls quietly showed off the refined hygiene, while the artwork made me think of the finest Value Village home decor aisles. Parking was plentiful in a Mad Max themed lot, with complimentary street people valet service. Sustainability is clearly a priority, so toilet paper and other amenities only turn up after you ask about them repeatedly. The doors either wouldn’t lock or wouldn’t close, thoughtfully providing ventilation after bathroom effects. And if you forgot extra clothes, a closet might have an industrial garbage bag full of "seasoned" clothes and bedding waiting for you.
