Bakan - Quartier des Congres

The host’s dismissive attitude and the poor cleanliness made the stay stressful. I booked because they had confirmed free parking, then after the booking was finalized they said it was a mistake and took it back. By then, I didn’t have the time or energy to find another place. When I asked for compensation, they responded very unprofessionally and tried to offset the parking problem with free early check-in. I hadn’t asked for that courtesy, and it was no answer for their misinformation. I definitely won’t return. Save your money and stay elsewhere.

We booked this suite at the last minute after our previous hotel canceled, and communication through the booking platform was great. It’s well suited to a longer stay, with a full kitchen, in-unit laundry, living room, and bedroom. It was very clean and good value. Extra blankets, pillows, and towels were provided too. The beds were the main problem. The main bedroom mattress was really hard, and the sofa bed was so thin we could feel the metal support underneath. We booked for a comfortable rest, so that was disappointing. The AC was oddly placed directly over the cooking area, making it less effective when cooking or hanging out there, while the bedroom stayed warmer without direct ventilation. I hadn’t realized check-in was self-service. The instructions arrived two hours after check-in time, so when we got there after 8, we didn’t know how to enter. Luckily a staff member was there checking on something and helped us. The advertised baggage storage also turned out to be bags left at an unattended desk by reception, relying on CCTV. Ours weren’t stolen, but it felt risky. For one night, we got five small portions of low-quality shampoo and no conditioner, so my hair was dry the next day, lol.

We hoped the place would live up to the nice website photos, but several things during our two-night stay mean we won’t return. On the first night, water poured intermittently from the shower-room ceiling, as if a drain had opened above it. We called the hotel number and got voicemail. It dripped on and off all night, so nobody showered. No one from management came to check, offered another room, or helped us. We were left to deal with it ourselves. The next day, the power was out from 9 a.m. until around 4 p.m. because of construction outside. The hotel must have known, but chose not to tell guests because it didn’t want to lose bookings. We’d bought food that went bad in the fridge, and couldn’t make coffee in the morning because the stove was electric. There was also a homeless encampment around the hotel, with people living in tents right outside. We saw a homeless woman with her pants down, urinating right outside our window. The coffee machine still had water half filling its tank when we checked in, and we were too disgusted to use it. The lack of communication, help, and care from the hotel and management was what really made the stay so bad.

These spacious apartments come in one, two, or three bedrooms, with up to 2.5 bathrooms, plus a kitchen, dining room, living room, and more. A great option for a large family or group.
