Hotel Birks Montreal

The Persian-style ice cream was a lovely surprise, and the food overall was great if you're after something different and refined. I did find the portions a little small. Hôtel Birks Montréal has beautiful architecture that brings a lot of charm, and my room was very clean. I'd seen complaints online, but personally had no issues. A classy, enjoyable stay in the heart of Montréal.

We've been returning to Hotel Birks for about five or six visits a year over the past five years, in every season, while our children attend university in Montreal. The staff at the front desk, in valet, and in the restaurant have always done whatever they can to make our stays enjoyable. The seasonal flowers and decor are lovely, and the rooms, common areas, and dining spaces are spectacular. This medium-sized downtown hotel feels like a jewellery box. Henri, the restaurant inside Hotel Birks, is a Nuvo French delight, with generous portions and fresh seasonal choices for all kinds of tastes. We highly recommend Hotel Birks for any occasion in Montreal.

The Christmas view from our room was wonderful, with tall walls, big windows, and the cathedral lights right outside. The decor was nice, the hotel was well appointed, and there was even a scale in the bathroom. The staff were fabulous, and we had a memorable Christmas 2025 at Hotel Birks. One problem: a cloying air freshener came through the ventilation, sometimes so strongly it felt thick. It wouldn't suit someone sensitive to chemicals or artificial scents. We also ran out of tissues, and the ones provided were thin and poor quality. There were no face cloths either. Still, the location is superb, and we'll come back. It ranks with Chateau Frontenac and Chateau Laurier as a pleasant place to stay.

The valet handled my car disrespectfully. I handed over the keys, went upstairs to drop my bags, then came back outside and saw the valet speeding in my vehicle. It's not theirs to joyride. Otherwise, this would have been a five-star review. The hotel itself is a visual masterpiece, with high ceilings and art everywhere. There's also a subtle, lovely scent through the place.
