Le Gîte du Parc LaFontaine

I stayed three nights from 15th August 2018 in a shared room for four women. The room was fine and the bunks were comfortable. Everyone was helpful and friendly, and the breakfasts have been the best I’ve had in Canada so far. Great location for exploring. Loved it.

A terrible experience. I booked this hostel through Hostelworld, paid the reservation fee, and received a confirmation email, but when I arrived I found out they’d cancelled my booking for an “invalid credit card.” My card was clearly valid since the reservation fee had gone through. That left me stranded with over 50 pounds of luggage after six hours of travel. I later found they’d tried to pre-authorize a charge under “Gîte du Plateau” instead of the hostel’s actual name, which is why the card validation failed. The policy was awful, and the communication was just as bad.

Some of my favorite Montreal memories came from staying here, meeting people, taking an outdoor shower, and eating those awesome pancake breakfasts. The staff were top notch, too. Only question, where’s the hotub time machine, yo?

A great hostel, with clean rooms, friendly staff, and a nice atmosphere. No complaints!
