The apartment itself seems nice enough, and I’ll be living there from May 2026-May 2027. My problem was Gita Sylvère, the building agent. She was rude, difficult, and incredibly impatient, which hurts both prospective tenants and the company. I emailed fewer than 10 standard questions. She ignored most of them or said she’d withdraw my application if I didn’t sign, and eventually stopped answering altogether. On a call with my roommate, she said she’d withdraw us from consideration if I asked more questions. My roommate also told me she used derogatory language about me and asked how I could even be in university if I asked such stupid questions. During the tour, she hurried us along by saying “the current tenants don’t want you here,” even though the tenants were pleasant and let us look around. She also gave us several ultimatums, including saying we had to write the application within 48 hours, making it hard to research the place properly. It’s ridiculous that someone like this is employed in property management, and I’m sure she turns potential clients away. McGill and Concordia students should look up the reddit threads about Hazelview Properties and Le Sommet before talking to Gita. Her emails are worthless, when she takes the time to send them at all.

We love our apartment, especially the view and the terrace, and the building is always clean. Flora, the doorwoman, is wonderful, kind, and helpful. The man at the desk is less helpful, since he’s always on his phone or computer. The new washing machines were much needed, so thank you for those. After five years here, I have mixed feelings. There’s been a lot of manager turnover, with some better than others, and the building no longer has activities like it used to. Now they only decorate for Christmas, whereas there used to be fall decorations too. The pool opened very late this year, and the elevator has broken down many times over the past couple of years. Since a major pipe repair a couple of years ago, we hear noises in the bathroom pipes every day. We reported it several times, but maintenance said nothing was wrong. We’ve also had many water cuts in the last couple of years. For five years we’ve been told the refrigerator and stove would be replaced, but nothing has happened. The building is getting old and may have lacked maintenance for some years, I don’t know.

I lived in the building from 2018-2023, paying $3000/mo in rent and parking, and the front office and management never gave me good service. Several serious problems were handled poorly. The heat malfunctioned and reached 27-33 C. Management did nothing for two months, then it was fixed right away once they sent a real electrician. The shower was unusable because it scalded, and it leaked badly. That took another two months to fix, and they never repaired the hole in my wall afterward. They also overcharged me for two months, almost $5000, and took several months to pay it back. Other problems included not being able to organize parking or storage space. I had to keep going to the front office, including to Bruno, about these issues. When I asked Nazigum for compensation for months without basic necessities like heating and a usable shower, I was laughed at. The place is horribly run.

The old manager is missed. The new managers, Oliver and Sam, need to get it together. After I moved out they wired my money to themselves by mistake, then had the nerve to say it would take a month to mail me a check for over 3k. The male doormen were a bad experience for me. They’d be on their phones calling friends, seemed kind of haunty, and wouldn’t open the doors when I had lots of things. Even when a delivery person came, they’d notice and then go back to watching their personal computer. Like a lot of apartment complexes, they control when the AC and heat are turned on. The central AC can take days to switch on during hot weather, and they don’t work weekends. I was told construction blocks the other end of the AC in some units, so the cold air doesn’t circulate much. The pipes are old too. Smells from other kitchens come up through the sink, and you can even hear other kitchens through the pipes. I used to cover the sink and spray room spray.
