Motel Le Paysan

We could park right outside our room, and there are lots of nearby restaurants with a good range and reasonable prices. It's a no-nonsense motel, pretty much what you'd expect. I found it overpriced, though maybe that's just Montreal in general. It's also some distance from the city centre.

The room looked very outdated, with carpet so worn and stained that we kept our shoes on. The bathroom wasn't clean, and worst of all, the linens hadn't been changed. We found an open condom wrapper under the pillow. When we told the front desk, they made excuses and offered another room only later, with no acknowledgement or responsibility. I was forbidden from speaking to the owner or manager and told I could take it up with police if I wanted to pursue it. Nothing to like here. It would be impossible to clean properly without renovations.

I stayed three nights. It's a safe, quiet place with good wifi, and the workers were nice. The room was comfortable and had a vintage style, a carpet, and warmth all around. No bed bugs. The bathtub was okay, though it could have been cleaner, but it was clean. The price felt expensive. The owner could charge workers and solo travelers less since the rooms don't have kitchens. We found this motel at the last minute, and it was the cheapest option, but it didn't disappoint. The rooms were clean and about 20-30 minutes from the city. I'd recommend it to people visiting Montreal who won't be spending all their time in the motel.
