Hotel Terrasse Royale

Breakfast isn’t included, but there’s a small cafeteria off the main lobby where you can buy fresh croissants, coffee, hot chocolate, and chocolates. Right next door is a wonderful bakery with a restaurant selling delicious food. The room had a little kitchenette with a kettle, toaster, Keurig, real china and cutlery, and even three large knives, including a bread knife. The bathroom had a safety bar, and the layout made this a very accessible room. I slept so well in the huge king bed. It was quiet, away from the street, and parking underneath was convenient. The location is perfect, surrounded by bakeries, restaurants, and useful shops. The receptionist kindly offered to carry my bags upstairs, since I walk with two canes. All this for $165 a night in November. I loved this hotel!

Transit was easy to reach, with buses on the street and the Metro a short walk away. There were also plenty of nearby shops, restaurants, cafes, bakeries, plus a 24-hour grocery store and a drugstore. I appreciated being able to book directly on the website and check in and out online. The staff were courteous and efficient. Our two-bedroom suite was clean and spacious, with windows that opened and a small balcony facing the back of the building, so it was very quiet and we slept well. The modern wall-mounted climate unit ran quietly and efficiently, unlike the old compressor units that wake you up in many older hotels. The carpet could use an update, though it looked reasonably clean. The kitchenette had the basics, cutlery and small appliances, but salt, pepper, and oil would have been nice additions. We were here for three nights for a family gathering and had a very pleasant stay. I’d definitely come back.

A great stay in a great neighbourhood. The rooms were clean and roomy, and our suite overlooking the street was excellent. The bedroom faced the back, so street noise didn’t bother us. Everything we needed was within walking distance. Indoor parking was glorious, with EV charging included, and the staff were very nice and helpful. Definitely recommend.

I booked this room in June 2025 for a stay in May 2026 during Grand Prix week. The reservation was confirmed, so I believed it was secure. Shortly after tickets went on sale, the hotel told me it was cancelled because of “overbooking.” I booked more than ten months ahead, and with modern automated booking systems, that explanation is hard to accept. It’s difficult not to suspect they cancelled so they could rebook the room at a higher price as demand rose. Cancelling confirmed bookings to take advantage of higher rates is unacceptable and reflects very poorly on the hotel. Guests expect a confirmed reservation to be honoured, and this raises serious concerns about how they’re treated. A reservation should mean something. I won’t recommend the hotel, and I’ll share my experience to warn other travellers.
