W Montreal

Even after a long, late arrival at 1:30 a.m., Kia greeted us with such a warm welcome and gave us a list of nearby restaurants and things to do. A lot of her tips were right on. The whole front desk team kept that same friendly, helpful energy throughout our stay, and our room, city view, and the hotel’s amenities were lovely. It was easy to walk around Old Town and find little restaurants and shops. We especially want to thank Dave, the bellman. We left our passports in the safe, and he tracked us down in our taxi, arranged another cab, and got the passports to us about 20 minutes after we left. He even translated between three languages to make it all happen smoothly. My partner and I feel lucky to have had such a memorable stay at the “W”—Montreal. It made our special occasion wonderful, and it’s going in our journal forever. Thank you 🙏

I booked the W Montreal at the last minute in December for the Christmas holidays, and it turned out to be a really pleasant surprise. The rooms felt spacious, the beds were comfortable, and I liked the bathroom’s unusual but practical design. The bar was a nice spot to stop for a drink when I was tired, then head straight to bed. I also enjoyed the restaurant, and the hotel was very clean. I had a great stay and would recommend it.

That Monday at 11 a.m., an alarm told us to use the emergency exits while I was on a video call. I had to cancel everything, and it turned out to be only a test. I hadn’t been told it was coming. Something like that should be communicated in several places, such as at check-in, in the elevators, and by email. For a hotel that hosts business travellers, that was a serious problem. If not for this, my rating would have been much lower. Even with it, I think the stay was decent value, especially for visitors from the US or Europe with a stronger currency. I got a suite with points and an upgrade, listed at CAD 580 plus tax. It was nice overall. The bed was a little too soft, though the pillows were good, and the shower was great. The tub had no jets and was fine for one person, but a squeeze for two. The A/C was quiet, effective, and quick to adjust, which matters a lot to me. The view was nice, though there are better suites for views. The workspace was small and too close to the TV. The hotel is near businesses, the metro via an underground link, Old Montreal, and the Old Port. The restaurant was closed Sunday evening; the bar’s dishes were okay. The server was courteous, the bartender less so, and breakfast was okay, though there are better options outside. A small bottle of champagne delivered to the room was a nice touch.

Mauricio, the W Insider, made a real difference with thoughtful recommendations and attention to detail. Everyone I dealt with was welcoming, and the food was excellent. My room was stylish, spotless, and comfortable after a day exploring Montréal. The hotel has a lively feel and is well placed for getting around, close to everything. I had a fantastic stay at W Montréal and would happily return or recommend it.
